The Syracuse men’s lacrosse team will enter the 2016 campaign ranked No. 7 in the USILA/NIKE Coaches Poll as it prepares for its ACC title defense.

The Orange received 311 in the poll, which tabbed all-five ACC programs in the top-eight. Defending National Champion Denver (431 points/14 first-place votes) secured the top spot, with Notre Dame (416 points/six first place votes) projected as the highest ACC squad in the poll at No. 2.

Behind the Fighting Irish, who will visit the Carrier Dome on April 2, sits Duke (393 points/one first-place vote), Maryland (365 points/one first-place vote), and Johns Hopkins (340 points) to round out the top-five. Syracuse will make trips to Johns Hopkins (March 19) and Duke (March 27) in consecutive weekends this spring.

Just ahead of ‘Cuse at No. 6 is another ACC squad the Orange will host this season. North Carolina (317 points), visits the Carrier Dome on April 17 in another marquee home game.

Virginia (302 points) starts the year ranked eighth, with Yale (271 points) and Brown (202 points) just behind to complete the preseason top-10.

Albany and Cornell rank No. 12 and No. 17 respectively, as other ranked teams Syracuse will face this year. The Great Danes will provide a tough early-season test for ‘Cuse as the Orange hosts Albany in the second week of the year on Feb. 21. Syracuse will later visit Cornell on April 12 to continue the historic rivalry between the two schools.

Action for the 2016 season gets underway on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. when Syracuse kicks off its 100th year of men’s lacrosse by playing host to in-state foe Siena. The Orange roster features three preseason All-Americans in Dylan Donahue, Brandon Mullins and Ben Williams.

Tickets are available by calling 1-888-DOMETIX (1-888-366-6849) or visiting Cuse.com/tickets.
