WATERBURY, Conn. – Post University Athletic Director Anthony Fallacaro announced Laura Campbell as the second head women’s lacrosse coach in program history on Tuesday.

Campbell returns to her home state with four years of Division I head coaching experience at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and most recently American University in Washington D.C.

“Laura came in highly recommended and has a proven track record for bringing in student-athletes who maintain high standards in the classroom and on the field,” Fallacaro said. “She has elevated the level of her previous programs to championship caliber and we firmly believe that Laura is the individual who can take our young women’s lacrosse program to the next level.”

During her two seasons at American, she amassed 16 wins at her alma mater. Additionally, she mentored seven All-Patriot League selections en route to the conference semifinals each year. Following the 2011 and 2012 seasons the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) lauded the Eagles as they maintained the highest team grade-point average among all Division I institutions.

Prior to her time in the nation’s capital, Campbell spent two seasons in the Hudson River Valley as the head coach at Marist College, a Division I member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). During the 2009 and 2010 seasons, Campbell guided the Red Foxes to their first NCAA Tournament and second MAAC Championship in program history in her final season. She mentored six All-MAAC selections, including the offensive player of the year. Campbell led the team to a program record 12 victories in her first season, including a berth in the MAAC Championship game. Academically, her squads totaled 23 student-athletes on the MAAC All-Academic Team and one Academic All-District choice as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

“I’m extremely excited to join the Post University community,” Campbell said. “I would like to thank Anthony Fallacaro, Scott Allen and the rest of the search committee as I begin this new endeavor. I’m looking forward to getting started with our team and at the university.”

The Eagles will begin their fourth season of varsity competition in the spring.
