MACON, Ga. – A 13 game spring schedule featuring six home matches at the brand new Moye Football and Lacrosse Complex was announced by Mercer head lacrosse coach Kyle Hannan on Wednesday.

“After accepting the job in late August, one of my major concerns was the schedule and how it was going to pan out for 2013,” Hannan said. “When I came on board it was half complete, but I’m very excited about what we ended up with.” Mercer begins its 2013 campaign at home, christening its brand-new complex with a 1 p.m. face-off against Rollins College on February 9. After the opener, the Bears play four of their next five games on the road before finishing the season with four home games from March 12-April 27. “The ideal way to start this season is in the new stadium, given the commitment that Mercer has made to our program,” Hannan said. “It’s nice to be able to have that first true game at home in front of fans, students and administrators here at Mercer.” After hosting Rollins, the Bears hit the road and travel to Durham, North Carolina for a matchup with national powerhouse Duke on February 17. “We’re excited about the opportunity to go Duke and compete against one of the top programs in the nation, year-in and year-out,” Hannan said. “I think it’s great for Mercer and the lacrosse program and we’ll become a better team from making that trip.” Six days later, Mercer is in Maryland to challenge Towson on February 23 at 1 p.m. On March 2, the team hosts Lees-McRae College before returning to the road for contests at St. Joseph’s and at Wagner. “We were able to work out a schedule that is very balanced with six home games and seven away games,” Hannan said. “We’re going to be able to travel and show Mercer University off in nine different states.” After facing Wagner, the Bears return home to welcome Marquette on March 12 before traveling to Bellarmine and Manhattan on March 20 and March 31. The final stretch of the season features home tilts against High Point (March 31), Air Force (April 6) and Jacksonville (April 27) with the last road game of the season at VMI on April 14. “The way the schedule works out, we travel a lot early and then play predominantly south-region teams towards the end,” Hannan said. “We’re excited to match up with very good teams in the south and see how we’ll do.” February Sat 9 Rollins Home 1:00 PM Sun 17 at Duke 1:00 PM Sat 23 at Towson 1:00 PM March Sat 2 Lees-McRae Home 1:00 PM Wed 6 at St. Joseph’s 4:00 PM Sat 9 at Wagner 1:00 PM Tue 12 Marquette Home 2:00 PM Sat 16 at Bellarmine 1:00 PM Wed 20 at Manhattan 12:00 PM Sun 31 High Point Home 1:00 PM April Sat 6 Air Force Home 1:00 PM Sun 14 at VMI 12:00 PM Sat 27 Jacksonville Home 1:00 PM
