TOWSON, Md. – Hardening the team’s resolve with cold and windy conditions, the No. 16 Towson men’s lacrosse team concluded its first week of practice on Saturday afternoon, putting in time at both Johnny Unitas ® Stadium and the weight room in the Towson Center.

“We had a longer break (this year); we got to come back a week later,” said junior defensive midfielder Jack Adams. “We came back with a lot of energy and trying to get the feet back under us and work on some of the fundamentals. … We’re working on some of our approaches.”

Splitting the squad in half, one group began the day at Unitas ® Stadium while the other half lifting with head strength and conditioning coach Kilee Taflinger. Midway through the sessions, the groups switched locations.

While at Unitas ® Stadium, the team developed its defensive approaches, individual shooting, faceoff work and goalie angles.

“We really focused a lot on shooting,” said junior attackman Ryan Drenner of the offensive drills. “Last year we were under 30 percent shooting and this year our main goal is to get above that. We were working on two-on-twos, getting our two-man game back in action; that was a big success for us last year.”

Towson hosts its Lacrosse Media Day on Monday. Following the women’s media session, the men’s side, ranked in all the major polls, will host the media at the Johnny Unitas ® Stadium Press Box at 1 p.m. Five players, Brian Bolewicki, Mike Lowe, Ben McCarty, Joe Seider and Tyler White will be present, as well as fifth-year head coach Shawn Nadelen.
