With its first win of the season, McMahon will become the all-time winningest coach in program history surpassing Hall of Fame Pam Hixon. UMass also enters the season carrying a 36-game win streak in regular-season A-10 contests – a stretch which is tied as the longest in NCAA history.

UMass is coming off a 19-2 campaign in 2015 which saw the Minutewomen reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament after winning its seventh straight A-10 Championship. Leading scorer and A-10 Player of the Year Erika Eipp returns after notching 75 points last season as does the reigning A-10 Midfielder of the Year in Hannah Murphy who set a new school record with 113 draw controls along side 57 points on the offensive side. Defensively, UMass returns three of its starting four on the back led by twins Anne and Kate Farnham, but will be replacing the graduated A-10 Defensive Player of the Year in goalie Rachel Vallarelli.
