U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force lacrosse team opens the 2016 season with an exhibition game against NCAA semifinalist Notre Dame, Saturday, Jan. 30, at noon in South Bend, Ind.

The Falcons will kick off the 2016 regular season on the road at service academy rival Navy, Feb. 6, in Annapolis.

Air Force opens the home schedule on Saturday, Feb. 13, against the 2015 NCAA National Champion Denver Pioneers at 1 p.m. at Falcon Stadium.  After four straight road games, the Falcons begin their inaugural season in the Southern Conference with back-to-back home games against Furman (March 12) and defending league champion High Point (March 19).  After four road games, including one at NCAA quarterfinalist and perennial national power Duke, the Falcons play home conference games against Mercer (April 9) and VMI (April 16). The regular season ends with road games at conference foes Richmond and Jacksonville. The 2016 Southern Conference Championships will be hosted at the University of Richmond, May 5-7.

Team captains Christopher Allen and Danny Brown, both seniors, will lead the squad in 2016. The Falcons are coming off of an 8-7 overall record in 2015, clinching back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since the 1996 and 1997 seasons. An independent in 2015, the Falcons played six games against SoCon teams and posted a 5-1 record with the only loss coming to eventual SoCon tournament champion High Point (10-9) on the road.

Air Force returns three of its top four scorers, and its starting goaltender, from last season. Freshman Chris Walsch was named the team’s MVP in 2015 as he led the Falcons with 37 goals and 55 points. He ranked fifth in the nation in goals by a freshman and set the school record for goals and points by a Falcon freshman in the modern era. Christopher Allen was fourth on the team in both goals (17) and points (21). Goalie Doug Gouchoe, whose 8.62 GAA was the fifth best at Air Force in the modern era, will also return in 2016.
