Former Pioneer is now playing in the NLL for the Calgary Roughnecks

DENVER – Former University of Denver attackman Wesley Berg (Coquitlam, B.C.) has been named the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Berg capped off his collegiate career at Denver with the program’s first National Championship in 2015, a campaign that also saw him selected as a Tewaaraton Award finalist. The Coquitlam native was a three-time USILA All-American and was the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. Berg finished his career as Denver’s leader in points (255) and goals (188), tallying 30 career hat tricks and posting 29 games in his career with at least four points. The box lacrosse right forward scored 39 career NCAA Tournament goals, the second most in NCAA history.

In his first two games with the National Lacrosse League’s Calgary Roughnecks, Berg has six points on two goals and four assists. Berg and the Roughnecks will visit Colorado just once this year, on March 26 at the Pepsi Center.
