VESTAL, N.Y.- The Binghamton men’s lacrosse team has announced its schedule for the 2016 season. The slate features five teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season and seven games at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

Coach Scott Nelson, entering his fifth season at BU, will look to guide the Bearcats back to the postseason. Nelson led Binghamton to the America East Tournament in 2014.

This season, BU will take on a tough schedule, including five NCAA Tournament teams from 2015. Of those five, four won an NCAA Tournament game. Overall, this season’s opponents posted a .522 winning percentage in 2015.

The Bearcats open the regular season at Colgate on February 20. Binghamton follows with a trip to Marist a week later.

After a trip to Hobart, BU opens a three-match home stand from March 12-22, as Delaware, UMBC, and Drexel all come to the Bearcats Sports Complex. The game against UMBC will mark the start of America East action.

BU wraps up its March schedule with a visit to Towson on March 26. It then heads to Hartford on April 2 before welcoming UMass Lowell and Canisius to Vestal. Binghamton closes the regular season with a challenging final two weeks, as it takes on three teams that qualified for the 2015 America East Tournament. On April 16, BU travels to Albany. The Bearcats then travel to Syracuse for a non-conference clash with the Orange. BU hosts Stony Brook on April 23 in its final home date of the season. Binghamton concludes the regular season with a trip to Vermont on April 30.

BU faced a demanding schedule in 2015, taking on four NCAA Tournament foes. The Bearcats fell in five one-goal games. They return Chris Bechle and Dan Mazurek, who were both named to the All-America East Second Team after last year. Sophomores Ben Kocis and Sean Gilroy are also back following All-America East Rookie Team performances in 2015.
