ADRIAN, Mich.–Adrian College men’s lacrosse head coach Scott Morrison has announced that Mason Risner has joined the Bulldogs’ staff as an assistant coach. Risner started his new duties with the Bulldogs on Monday, Jan. 11.

Risner comes to Adrian from Gwynedd Mercy University, where he finished his second season with the Griffins last spring. He was recruiting coordinator after completing a standout career for Griffins. His primary role will be to assist with the offense and extra man unit, as well as run the substitution box on game day.

“Mason has a great energy and enthusiasm for lacrosse and for coaching,” Morrison said. “He’s had great successes with his playing career as well as with his young coaching career. Mason will make an immediate impact with us.”

In 2014, Risner graduated from Gwynedd Mercy with a degree in sports management and was a standout on the lacrosse field for the Griffins. He is the program’s first career 100-goal scorer, ranking first with 101. On other Griffin all-time lists, he is first with 2.43 points per game, first with 50 games started, and second with 141 total points.

Risner also holds the school’s freshman record for points (41) and goals (29). During that season, he also led the Griffins with five game-winning goals. Risner was a two-time All-Colonial States Athletic Conference selection during his career.

Risner is a graduate of Hempfield High School (Landisville, Pa.) where he was an all-conference selection.
