Hobart College Lacrosse Head Coach T.W. Johnson recently announced the four student-athletes that will serve as captains for the 2013 season. Returning captains Ryan Korn and Jake Silberlicht will be joined by Sean Regan and Cam Stone.

“As a program, we’ve had a successful fall semester and that is largely due to the leadership of our captains and seniors,” Johnson said. “I’m fortunate to have two returning captains in Jake and Ryan. The experience they bring to the table has and will continue to benefit our program.

“It’s been a pleasure to watch what Sean and Cam have added to the captain group. These four are a good illustration of the character we have in our program and the direction we are headed. Credit should be given to their teammates as well for their maturity and attention to detail in this process.”

A senior defensive midfielder, Korn has played in 27 games over the past two seasons, recording a goal and an assist to go with 22 ground balls and four caused turnovers. The two-time ECAC All-Academic honoree played in every game in 2012, producing a goal, an assist, 12 ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Last season, Korn’s third quarter goal against Binghamton proved to be the game-winner.

A senior midfielder, Silberlicht played in 12 games last year, starting four. He netted three goals and assisted on another, picking up five ground balls. Silberlicht was the recipient of the 2012 Kent W. Marbury ’62 Memorial Award for dedication and hard work. In 31 career games, he has four goals, three assists, eight ground balls and four caused turnovers.

A senior defenseman, Regan started all 13 games in 2012. He grabbed 16 ground balls, caused 15 turnovers, scored a goal and notched two assists. Regan was second on the team and ninth in the ECAC in caused turnovers. He opened the year with three ground balls and a season-high three caused turnovers. Regan scooped up a season-high four ground balls and earned an assist against Robert Morris. He scored his goal in a 13-12 setback to then No. 14 Syracuse.

A three-year starter, Regan has played 41 career games, registering 40 ground balls, 38 caused turnovers, a goal, and three assists. He is five caused turnovers shy of Alex Caton ’11, who holds the Hobart career record.

A junior attackman, Stone started every game in 2012, scoring 12 goals and handing out a team-high 29 assists for 41 points. He also had 13 ground balls and three caused turnovers. Stone paced the ECAC and ranked fourth in the nation in assists per game (2.23) and ranked seventh in the league in points per game (3.15). He registered a season-high six points, all assists, at Bucknell. Stone also enjoyed three five-point games, including two goals and three assists and a season-high three ground balls against the Orange. The 2012 recipient of the William H. Dobbin ’40 Memorial Award (Hobart’s offensive MVP) has played in 26 career games, producing 20 goals, 33 assists, and 21 ground balls. Stone also earned ECAC All-Academic honors.

Hobart’s 111th varsity season opens on Feb. 16, when the Statesmen visit Siena.
