Robert Morris Women’s Lacrosse Announces 2016 Schedule and Roster

Moon Township, Pa. — Robert Morris University women’s lacrosse announces the schedule and roster for the program’s 12th season. Head Coach Katy Phillips brings in nine freshman to the 2016 team and returns six seniors including two-time All-NEC midfielder Jessica Karwacki.

The Colonials, who posted a 10-6 overall record in 2015, open the season visiting crosstown rival Duquesne University on February 17 at 4:00pm. The non-conference road slate includes a visit to the University of Cincinnati, La Salle University in Philadelphia and Campbell University in North Carolina. RMU’s road non-conference schedule wraps up with a trip to the state of Michigan with stops at University of Detroit Mercy and Central Michigan University.

Robert Morris opens its’ home schedule against Niagara University on February 26 at 3:00 pm at Joe Walton Stadium. The other non-conference home games are against St. Bonaventure and Delaware State University.

The Northeastern Conference season opens at home for the Colonials on April 8 at 3:00 pm against LIU Brooklyn. The other conference home games are against Sacred Heart on April 10, closing out NEC play on home turf against Wagner College and Mount St. Mary’s. The Colonials will play their NEC road games at Central Connecticut State University, Bryant University and Saint Francis University.

Highlighting the RMU returners, Jessica Karwacki, a senior midfielder who recorded 169 draw controls (averaging 10.6 per game) in 2015 to lead the nation for the second straight season. In three seasons, Karwacki has won a remarkable 537 draws, shattering an NCAA record. Corey Karwacki earned all-conference second team honors last season and is the Colonials leading returning scorer (37 goals, 21 assists). Now a sophomore, Dana Davis earned all-NEC rookie honors last season after scoring 22 goals and 11 assists. Brittany Byerly (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland H.S) notched 50 points last season. Pittsburgh native and senior Emily Jamison (North Hills H.S.) posted a 30 goal junior campaign.
