BRADENTON, FLA.—Current and former Tar Heels Maggie Bill, Kristen Carr, Becky Lynch, Marie McCool, Jenn Russell, Sloane Serpe, Courtney Waite, Caylee Waters and Laura Zimmerman all saw action over the weekend with the United States National Team as it played exhibition games against the University of Florida and Syracuse University in Bradenton, Fla.

Originally, the schedule had called for a doubleheader of scrimmages against Florida and Syracuse, but weather caused a delay of five-and-a-half hours, moving the game against Syracuse until Sunday morning.

On Saturday against Florida, Carr and Waite started on defense, and Zimmerman started in the midfield. Serpe, Russell, McCool, Bill, Lynch and Waters saw action off the bench.

McCool tallied a goal and an assist, while Bill had an assist. Waters played 20:31 in the cage, allowing five goals and making three saves.

On Sunday, Syracuse took an early lead at 4-2 midway through the first half before Team USA scored seven consecutive goals on the way to a 20-8 win.

Russell and Waite started on defense for the USA, with Russell gathering a ground ball and controlling two draws. Serpe came off the bench to get two draw controls on the defensive end. Waters played the first 15:09 of the second half in goal, allowing one goal and making a save.

On the offensive end vs. the Orange, Lynch had a goal and two assists and Zimmerman had a goal on a free position try.  McCool also scored.

The weekend was the final action for the U.S. team before head coach Ricky Fried cuts the roster from 36 players to 24 as it prepares for the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse World Championship in Guildford, England.
