ALBANY, N.Y. – Head coach Scott Marr has announced the 2016 UAlbany men’s lacrosse schedule as the Great Danes look for their fourth straight America East title.

The 2016 schedule includes eight home games and four contests against teams that competed in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.  UAlbany will take on a number of big names in men’s lacrosse, including non-conference matchups against 2015 NCAA participants Syracuse, Cornell, Maryland and Yale.  UAlbany will play games against five teams ranked in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off preseason issue plus a full America East slate.

“We are excited for another challenging schedule in 2016, highlighted by two top five programs in Syracuse, and, for the first time in program history, Maryland,” said Marr, entering his 16th season at the helm of UAlbany.  “As our conference continues to get stronger, we will prepare to defend and compete for our conference title.”

UAlbany is coming off one of its most successful seasons in program history, finishing 16-3 with a perfect run through the America East for its third straight and seventh overall conference tournament title.  UAlbany took down Cornell 19-10 in the NCAA First Round for its second trip to the quarterfinals in as many years, falling to 1-seed Notre Dame 14-10 in Denver.

UAlbany has been stellar against America East opponents the last three years, combining to go 22-0 including 16-0 in the regular season and winning all six games in conference tournaments, including a 22-9 win over Stony Brook in the 2015 America East title game at home.

2016 UAlbany men’s lacrosse season tickets are now available for purchase from the UAlbany ticket office.  Season tickets for adults are $55 while tickets for seniors and children aged 12 and under are $40.  Regular season parking passes for the SEFCU lot are $75, with gameday parking passes being $10 per contest.  Before the season starts, fans may purchase a season ticket and a parking pass for the special price of $100.

Single game tickets for each contest are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and children aged 12 and under.  Groups of 10 or more may purchase at a rate of $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.  Single game tickets will be available starting in February.

“This season schedule offers lacrosse fans the opportunity to visit John Fallon Field and support the Great Danes in their quest to defend their America East title and return to the NCAA’s for the fourth consecutive year,” said UAlbany director of athletics Mark Benson. “In addition, our home schedule gives the Capital Region fans multiple chances to experience nationally ranked college lacrosse teams playing the game at the highest level.”

On Wednesday, March 16th, UAlbany will head to College Park to play Maryland for the first time in program history.  This game will feature two teams that have each been to the NCAA Quarterfinals the last two years.  Maryland was the Big Ten regular season co-champion in 2015 and reached the NCAA title game.

UAlbany returns home to begin league play and battle its SUNY rival Stony Brook in a rematch of last year’s America East title game and last year’s top two teams in the conference.  Game time is set for noon on Saturday, March 19th.

UAlbany’s final home game of the regular season will be a matchup against crosstown rival Siena on Tuesday, April 26th at 7 p.m.  UAlbany has an 11-2 lead in the series as these two programs have played each year since 2006.

The final regular season America East game for UAlbany will come in Baltimore as the Great Danes take on UMBC on Saturday, April 30th at 3 p.m.  This matches UAlbany coach Scott Marr against Don Zimmermann, the current UMBC head coach and Marr’s coach at Johns Hopkins.
